Born in the Contai Subdivision of Midnapore District, West Bengal, Arun Kumar Sengupta studied at Contai Model Institution up to Class VII, spending twelve years in the small town of Contai. Then the author spent the next twelve years of his life in Midnapore – where Kshudiram, Bimal Dasgupta and the great Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar were born – as his father was transferred there. After that the author spent his service life in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand.

The author has pieced together a variety of situations that he has experienced from various types of people in his life.
