Dr. Bhavan Mahajan is born on 22nd Aug 1942. He is a reputed name in surgery in and around Aurangabad (Maharashtra). After post graduation he was in U.K. for three years (1972-75). Later having come back he joined a Mission Hospital at Shivgaon Distt Ahmednagar (Maharashtra). It was while working here that he decided to start his own nursing home in Paithan – his hometown (1977). He chose to work in a small town where not many facilities were available. His anesthetist would visit once a week. At other times surgery was done under spinal or local anesthesia. His assistant was his wife Chhaya, who is Ph.D in English and a name in Marathi Literature. But because of the unforeseen difficulties, he left his home town and shifted to Aurangabad. His aim of serving people with minimum fees continued in Aurangabad. He has conducted several health education camps in villages and at his Kalyani Nursing Home. He has been President of local IMA and Secretary of Surgical Society. He is a veracious reader and has deep interest in classical Indian music. Recently one of the stories in this book “Spotless” was converted in one act play and presented on ‘Dasara day’ by local branch of IMA Aurangabad. It was highly enjoyed and deeply appreciated for its social message.

Poonam Sood is born on 16th March 1965 in a Punjabi family in Kanpur. Her mother was a voracious reader and father had a lust for books. This paved a path for the innate poetic sensitivity she was born with. As a student in a convent, Poonam’s letters and essays were always read aloud and applauded in class.

Her initial poems were published in ‘The Pioneer’ a leading English newspaper and then her writing career picked up. She has more than hundred and fifty articles published and broadcasted, rewarded and appreciated, in Hindi and English.

A well known name in the field of literature, she is the founder chairperson of Gulzar Sahitya Samiti, which promotes literature and organizes cultural events since past nineteen years, in Faizabad…where Poonam lives with her husband.
