Due to the emerging trends in globalization and industrialization, it is imperative for people to learn about work culture. There are numerous of research evidence to support the claim that workplace harassment poses a serious threat to the business world. It is important for the employees and employers to learn about the policies and protocols relating to the safety and security of the employees more specifically to women employees. They need to be educated about the support services available for the victims of harassment. It is equally important for the management to take proactive measures not only to address harassment cases but to prevent such occurrences. Many a time there is a lack of knowledge on victim management in the organization and there is an urge to call for the establishment of partnerships in the victim empowerment sector to effectively address the diverse needs of victims. Dr. Sharon Thomas is an Assistant Professor and Academic Coordinator in the Department of Forensic Science, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), India. She was awarded a doctorate for her thesis “Shadow of Despair: A psychological impact on victims of terrorism and armed conflict in Kashmir Valley” and received her Master’s in Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration from the Department of Criminology, University of Madras. Her expertise includes psychological effects on victims, victims of terrorism, armed conflict, and war crimes.
Dr. Kannan Balakrishnan is an Assistant Professor and Head at the Department of Forensic Science, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), India. He was awarded a doctorate for his thesis “Janamaithri Suraksha Project in Kerala: An Evaluative Study on the Community Policing Initiatives among Public and Police Officers” and received his Master’s in Criminology and Criminal Justice Administration from the Department of Criminology, University of Madras. His expertise includes organization design in police, community policing, crime prevention, and human rights.
Prof. (Dr.) M. Priyamvadha is a Professor of Criminology, Head (i/c) Department of Women Studies, University of Madras. She is also a member of the Academic Council and the Senate which are the decision-making bodies of both academic and administrative affairs at the University of Madras. She has completed PG courses in Criminology, and Human Rights and Duties Education. She is currently teaching in the Department of Women’s Studies for Post Graduate students and guiding Ph.D. scholars pursuing research in various dimensions of criminology and victimology. Her current area of specialization is on elderly victimization, female infanticide, and the plight of devadasis in India.
