Every human being, living on this planet belonging to any religion, race or creed understands the language of images. That’s why I, Jaspreet Mohan Singh, as an artist think that the art of painting is the most effective of all arts to express ourselves. I have come to the conclusion that this medium is not only good to express one’s feelings but also to give vent to one’s creative urge. In today’s turbulent world where there is so much insecurity, the only way to educate people is to be creative. Creativity being contagious inspires people to be constructive, loving and full of positive energy. This in turn makes this planet worth living. The path is long but the artist has to be courageous and creative towards his responsibilities for the society.
Being a sensitive artist, I feel moments of pure blissfulness when I paint. Colors become the carriers of my ideas on the surface of canvas. My paintings are bold and abstract using bright colors for my compositions. The abstractions carry deep hidden meanings and perceptions change from person to person. The underlying theme is an upsurge towards perfection which is the ultimate goal of any human being. Each painting is a discovery to enrich and express myself and feel a great sense of gratification.

Jaspreet Mohan Singh
Born on 26 May 1960 at Allahabad. M.A. (Fine Arts). As I have observed in Life everyone is born with some special talent. I was not any exception. No one in my family was an artist, although I came from a well-educated family but I was very sensitive towards visual world and tried to copy the objects from nature because the existence of the objects around me intrigued me a lot.
This is how my journey as an artist began. Later in my college, I opted for fine art as a subject in graduation where my Professor Bharat Bhushan Bharti
Inspired me to do my POST GRADUATION in Fine arts (1981). That became the foundation of my career as an artist and art teacher. Yes of course I am a full time artist apart from painting. I worked as an Arts Teacher and retired as a Principal at last. I am teaching Arts to the students because teaching is my passion from the very beginning and it remains so till today.
I am inspired by the works of Picasso, Dali and Edward Munch and of course my Guru, Prof. Bharat BhushanBharti. Heis a versatile artist who inspired me a lot. I salute Indian painters SatishGujral, Gaytonde and Tayab Mehta.
Generally I paint in Abstract expressionist style. Although as a teacher, I have to work in different mediums and Styles. I keep trying different mediums like oil colors, acrylics and watercolors. Nowadays, I prefer to paint in the Acrylics.
During my college days my peers happened to be very talented and competitive which inspired me to be in the race. At the same time some other tragic situations occurred in my life which triggered many ideas in me which took shapes on the Canvas. I find ideas from the life and situations around me. Any vulnerable social and political situations compel me to comment on contemporary society. Yes, generally I prefer to work in series. There are certain situations and ideas which impose themselves so much that it becomes hard to come out of them immediately.
So it becomes a series of a particular style or idea to get rid of it. Then I switch over to random Subjects temporarily only to return to my main track. My series ‘UPSURGE’ is an example of that. As I already said, Teaching Art is my passion. Primarily I breathe and live painting. A way of being with that is that I love Photography, Gardening, Music and Travelling.
