Patriot

by Prasanna

"Hey get it fast". Our commander, Mr.Kushal was shouting on all of us for very silly things. His thirst for perfection in everything has made him shout on us.

At that time, I was in my training camp for Indian Air Force in in Kashmir, when he punished with 18 rounds on my knees around a single-km ground! He gets everything very seriously. Also once during my camp at Arunachal Pradesh, I was punished with an hour in ice-cold water for spilling my food on the ground! He always hated me personally. But during the wars, he never regrets to give me works because he is more concerned about the nature.

But all those punishments have made me almost perfect now- during this World War III. Yes, even I can't believe that World War III has somehow involved India. I am now posted as a senior pilot over here at Kashmir where the border areas are very vulnerable to illegal entries.

"Hey Harish! Being a senior pilot, don't you have any responsibilities? You're sitting on that rock so casually as if you've come here spending your leisure time, you lazy beast!", he shouted on me when I just had started to feel free, off his hard words.

"Coming sir!", replied I, intending to cool him down. "Sir I've been thinking how to transmit these weapons for here to Xu-leau sir"

"That's why I had called you. Satish requested for two large size trunks of explosives and ammunitions. He reported from the camp in Xu-leau"

"Of which serial codes sir?"

"Heavy explosives serial-'IAF-100234-B' and secondary ammunition serial-'IAF-102301-AB'. They're loaded in the Antonov AN-32 over there... 100 metres from here. Get there, get Amrit, Bijoy and Jishnu with you. Also take Jatin with you, he would be helpful in unloading things", ordered Kushal."There are about three planes flying at a height above 1000m near Xu-leau. All of them belong to our enemies. So remain alert and avoid getting them close and having a fight. They've got flight detectors to a range of 5000 m and you have a detector to a range of 6500 m. Unload it and come back as fast as you can. Do you copy?"

"Yes sir!"m

I took all the soldiers he had mentioned with me and I climbed the plane.

"Bijoy, I'll have the main control and you take charge as my co-pilot, okay?", asked I.

"Yes sir!"

We took great speed and in seconds, we were at a height of 1000 m. Bijoy was taking care of the detectors and others were ready near the trunks.

"Sir, we are closing an enemy plane", warned Bijoy.

We swiftly changed the direction and moved in circular path, more than 5000m away from their planes.

"Sir, it isn't safe for us to land it near our camp. There are flights all over. Better we would communicate with Satish and land the trunks a few kilometres away from the camp", said Bijoy.

"As you say"

We had communicated with Satish and were closing our target place. We dropped the trunks and were above 1000m again.

"Sir, we've done it successfully!"

But suddenly communication device beeped and we attended it.

"It's Satish IA. We can't reach the place. We're surrounded all over by enemy troops. There are two heavy tanks surrounding us, but we've got only one. It isn't in a good condition now to withstand strong explosions. So please get the trunks by yourself to the camp", said he and the communimication went silent.

"Call all our co-soldiers here", I ordered Bijoy.

Bijoy got all of them to the pilot cabin.

"Amrit and Jatin, take the jeep in the flight and tie both the trunks to the jeep with ropes. Those trunks have got wheels and the plains are good enough for transmission..."

"Sir, all the flights have moved out. Hope they should have gone for filling the fuel. Best time to attack sir. We would surely get 30-45 mins", said Bijoy happily interfering my commands.

"Good then. Jishnu, you remain in the flight and drop explosives from here diverting the enemy troops. Meanwhile, they can transmit the goods. Am I clear?", shouted I.

"Yes sir!", replied they enthusiastically and soon were ready for the mission.

We landed the flight for a moment and before we took off Amrit and Jatin were down on the ground in the jeep with the trunks tied to it. We took off and were above the camp. Jishnu was dropping the explosives on the enemy tanks and both of them were down. Only troops were there from the opponent side. Satish and his team suddenly came out of their tents and took almost every enemy.

Communication device said something and Bijoy took the information.

"Sir, two flights of the enemy's are down near Pau lake. Only a single flight is left in this large territory and nearing us now! If it comes here, then they would take us down easily and take the control of this place", warned Bijoy.

"Then we shall take him down!",said I.

"Sir, but Kushal asked us not to fight against them"

"But no other way. We'll have to do it"

"But how..."

I suddenly took off from my seat. "Get me a jetpack and an explosive", asked I to Jishnu and he gave me them.

"Bijoy, get close to the flight and opposite to it. Jishnu, you take charge as the pilot", ordered I and wore the jetpack. Then I opened the door...

"Sir we're almost close...", shouted Bijoy and I was ready.

"JAI HIND!!", shouted I and jumped out of the plane and used my Jet pack. I targeted the turbine engine, moved towards it and neared it. I detonated the explosive and entered the engine...BOOM!!

I can see nothing, but I was happy that I've crashed that plane on the ground. Then, in minute I was able to see myself in a matter-less form. Those heaven guards told me, "Sir, we're here to take you to heaven. Please come with us!"

"One minute"

I rushed to my camp in Kashmir and was above Kushal. He got some call in a communication device. It said that I was dead.

In a minute Kushal broke out with tears and screamed, "Oh, my dear patriot!!". I've never seen him crying like that.

"Let's go", I said to heaven guards happily.
