Hi, this is Sumit Dhara. I am not a scholar, nor a preacher—I am a seeker. A questioner. A listener. Rethink What We Eat is not just a book I’ve written; it is a prayer I’ve offered. It carries the fragrance of my journey—one shaped by reverence, inquiry, and the quiet grace of those who guided me when I had no map. This work began with a simple yet unsettling question: What are we truly consuming—and what is consuming us? It carries the fragrance of my journey—one shaped by reverence, inquiry, and the quiet grace of those who guided me when I had no map.
This work began with a simple yet unsettling question: What are we truly consuming—and what is consuming us? As I explored the ethical, ecological, and spiritual dimensions of food, I found myself drawn deeper into the heart of human habit, cultural conditioning, and the silent consequences of our choices. The book is my attempt to hold space for reflection, not argument—to invite pause, not persuasion.
Alongside writing, I’ve been honoured with a Gold Medal in the Global Photography Contest and recognised in science Olympiads. These experiences have taught me to see with both precision and feeling—to honour the beauty of detail and the power of emotion. Whether through images or words, I strive to create work that resonates, that stirs, that awakens.
I write with humility and devotion. My storytelling blends poetic insight with lived experience, inviting readers into a shared journey of introspection and compassion. I believe language can be a lamp, and that even the smallest act of reflection can ripple outward into change.
This book is not a conclusion—it is a beginning. If its pages meet you where you are, I welcome you into this offering. Let us walk together—not as author and reader, but as fellow seekers.

From the survival choices of our ancestors to the gentle design of our bodies…
From the cries of innocent animals to the healing power of plant-based living…
From the wisdom of ancient scriptures to the compassionate teachings of modern saints…
This is not a book of argument—it is a book of awakening.
It does not seek to convince you.
It seeks to honour your capacity to rethink.
It does not end a conversation.
It begins with humility, logic, and love.
If you’ve ever felt a whisper in your heart, a quiet question in your soul—This book serves to be an echo of those questions.
With heartfelt gratitude and love,
– Sumit Dhara
