Non verbal communication and creating a good first impression shape how someone sees you. In fact most young adults are not equipped with the skills to make a good first impression and that’s a real problem. The combination of technical expertise and interpersonal skills is important for career success. Good communication is always a two-way thing. It also ensures people to feel safe and supported and develops a confidence in them that they would be listened to and understood. Interpersonal skill plays a very important role in maintaining personal relations and social interactions. It is a well known fact that most of conflicts happen not due to the issues/ matters but due to tone and body language used during the conversation. The way you put your opinions across goes a long way towards either peace or war. And that is why we may conclude that interpersonal skills or soft skills or communication skills are very important for personal relations, socialisation, getting a good job, establishing a good business or to develop leadership qualities. This book is an effort to teach young people these skills and demonstrate why they are important and how to be their best selves and provides an aid to steer them back on the right track.

Unilateral neglect is defined as a failure to attend to the side opposite a brain lesion. Clinically, the presence of severe unilateral neglect is apparent when a patient often collides into his/ her surroundings, ignores food on one side of the plate and attends to only one side of his/ her body. It has a great impact on day to day activities like feeding, reading newspaper, shaving, dressing, etc. Thus the presence of unilateral neglect has been strongly associated with an increased risk for injury and with poor functional outcomes. The effects of USN extend beyond the basic skills for self-care (bathing, dressing, walking, etc.) to instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) that are crucial for successful reintegration into community life. As making person functionally independent is the main role of any occupational therapists, the author has made an attempt to check perceptual decline in different age group of elderly i.e., 60-70 age group & 70- 80 age group. It has been proved scientifically that performance of 70-80 years age group Indian elderly is poor than 60-70 years age group.

Sleep deprivations are increasingly prevalent among college students, with the most commonly reported complaints being difficulty falling asleep, difficulty maintaining sleep, early morning awakenings, poor sleep quality, early morning fatigue/ sleepiness and daytime napping. Sleep problems have a great impact on the students’ daily life, for example, the grade point average. Medical and Allied Health students are considered as ideal for other youth. As their academic load is very high and consequently the competition among them as well. Because of this they have developed a habit to keep awake for longer durations at night. Thus the irregular daytime routines, side jobs and exam periods lead them to a condition of sleep deprivation. Beyond academic considerations, sleep problems in university students are often connected with mental health issues such as chronic fatigue, depression, stress, lower optimism, anxiety and a lower quality of life which may end up with suicide. Thus the aim of this book is to save life of young adults by teaching them healthy coping strategies suggested by occupational therapists to manage sleep deprivation.
