Jamshed was brought up in a well-to-do family in Mumbai, and the world was his oyster. Yet, from an early age he saw the pain and temporary nature innate in life. From the age of twelve he started studying comparative religion, western and eastern philosophy, psychology and new age physics. He had it all, but happiness just came in short bursts and eluded him with raw excitement alternated by dejection most of the time. He took to smoking cannabis which made him act strangely while under its influence. Eight years into his quest he met a remarkable man who gave him the ultimate goal of life as his aim and the clear direction to get there. This satisfied his heart and more importantly, his intellect. He stopped drugs.
He was six years under his mentor when he had a mental breakdown. This came as a bolt from the blue because he had never felt happier and was very successful in his personal life and career and most importantly, his life had a higher direction. He went into a deep depression for five years and started imbibing cannabis again. He was diagnosed as having bi-polar disorder. Then came an endless stream of hospitals and rehabilitation centres. He got involved with the drug culture and frequented Goa and Rave party’s where he tried heavier drugs. As he was leading this degenerate life he suddenly got into a delusion that he was the Messiah that mankind was waiting for. He went thru all sorts of adventures under this delusion and hallucinated several times. In his sane periods he managed to clutch on to his higher truth.
The age of 41 saw him in a rehabilitation centre where he suddenly had an epiphany and discovered his gigantic blunder and his wasted years. He decided to chose the rest of his life as a redemption. And to communicate to others the pitfalls on the spiritual path. Pursuing the final spiritual goal in life is essential. To say otherwise is to call a dog mad and kill it. But as the Upanishads say, ‘The path to truth is like a razors edge’.
