Dr. Gandra Laxman Rao
Dr. Gandra Laxmana Rao is a distinguished Telugu poet, scholar, and orator from Karimnagar, Telangana. He served for over four decades as a Telugu lecturer, shaping generations of students while remaining deeply engaged with literary and cultural life. His writing draws on classical Telugu traditions while responding thoughtfully to contemporary social realities.
His works include the free-verse collection Muggu and the philosophical poetry collection Satadru. Through Verrimanavudu, his Telugu rendering of Khalil Gibran, he explored the creative possibilities of translation. Actively involved in literary organizations such as Sahiti Gautami and Samata Sahiti, he has contributed significantly to the cultural life of North Telangana. Even in his seventies, he continues to perform Avadhanams, deliver lectures, and support emerging writers, living a life rooted in both literature and agriculture.
