VK Bahuguna aged 66 (Born 24th September 1954), is a former Member of Indian Forest Service (IFS). He served under the Central as well as State governments in various capacities. He was Director-General of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and Chancellor of Forest Research Institute (Deemed) University, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India during May 2011 to June 2013. He superannuated from the Government of Tripura in April 2015 as Principal Secretary. Presently he is Chairman of ‘Centre for Resource Management and Environment”. He is currently Member of Executive Council and University Court of the Kashmir Central University as nominee of President of India since August 2020 for 3 years. He served as Vice-Chairman of Asia-Pacific Forestry Organization during 2012 to 2014 and; Member Executive Committee of International Poplar Commission a United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization’s technical arm during 2012 -2014. He was Member of Government of India’s ICFRE Society an Apex Policy making body for two years during 2018-20.

A prolific writer he had more than 200 papers in National and International Journals. He authored two books and edited four others. Besides winning “Great Son of India Award’’ by All India Intellectual Federation and several other national awards; he was awarded the prestigious “Queen’s Award for Forestry 2000” by the Commonwealth Forestry Association United Kingdom for promoting policies of peoples participation in forest management in the Commonwealth.
