This is a book about computer organization and architecture. It focuses on the function and design of the various components necessary to process information digitally. We present computing systems as a series of layers, starting with low-level hardware and progressing to higher-level software, including assemblers and operating systems. These levels constitute a hierarchy of virtual machines. The study of computer organization focuses on this hierarchy and the issues involved with how we partition the levels and how each level is implemented. The study of computer architecture focuses on the interface between hardware and software, and emphasizes the structure and behavior of the system.

Dr. R. Deebalakshmi currently serves as the Assistant Professor, in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tiruchirappalli, India. She has 12+ years of experience in teaching. Her areas of interest include Networking, Wireless Communication, Knowledge Engineering, Internetworking and Distributed Systems. She guided many UG Projects and M.E projects and delivered guest Lectures and acted as resource person in Faculty development programs. She also acted as program committee member and session chair in international conferences. She has published research papers in various SCI, Scopus Indexed Journals, international journals and conferences. She has organized FDTPs while also having attended many workshops and FDTPs sponsored by AICTE. She has attended Microsoft Faculty Development Program on AI-102 Designing and Implementing a Microsoft Azure AI Solution. She is recognized and honored with awards such as the Best Teacher Award from the institutions where she worked previously. She is also a life member of IEI.
Dr. R. Umanesan, is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Computer Science Department at VelTech University, Chennai, Tamilnadu India. He has 12+ years of experience in the field of academic teaching. He started his career as a Lecturer and worked in various Engineering colleges in India at different levels. He has more than 2 publications in various National/International Conferences, Also, Dr.R.Umanesan published more than 7 research articles in various reputed peer-reviewed international journals.
Mr. K. Ravindran, is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Information Technology Department at Easwari Engineering College, Chennai, Tamilnadu,India. He has 3+ years of experience in Industry and 13+ years of experience in the field of academic teaching . He started his career as a J2EE developer in Wipro Technologies and then shifted to academic teaching out if his passion and profound interest in it. He started his teaching career as Lecturer and then worked in various Engineering colleges in India at different levels. He has more than 5 publications in various National/International Conferences, and he published a patent proposal in “The Patent Office Journal-India”.
