Hindu goddess Kali, also known as Kalika, is the heavenly Defender of Earth. But Kali also goes by the name "Dark Mother" because of her destructive abilities. The Sanskrit word "Kala," which means time, is the source of the name Kali. She thus stands for Time, Modification, Strength, Creation, Preservation, and Destruction. The feminine word "Kali," which derives from the Sanskrit adjective Kala, also means "the black one."
She is viewed as a fierce manifestation of Parvati, also known as Durga, who is Lord Shiva's wife. Both the giver, the one who bestows moksha or liberation, and the destroyer, primarily of bad energies, are simultaneously depicted as Kali Ma. However, she is typically represented as fierce and nasty in the interpretations. She is the world's mother and the repository of compassion. she is referred to as a great and compassionate primordial Mother Goddess. Millions of Hindus revere her as Kali Mother, or Kali Ma, in this aspect of her identity as Mother Goddess.
