Fate Upside Down is the story of Mary, a poor orphan who lives in a congested, overpopulated slum. As Mary struggles with poverty and desolation, she meets a rich stranger and falls in love with him. Her fate turns upside down from then on, for better or for worse, only time will tell.

Shalini Paul is a student who has been passionate about writing since she was in the second standard. She is a volunteer of The Art of Living, an organization that is engaged in conflict resolution, disaster and trauma relief,poverty alleviation, empowerment of women, prisoner rehabilitation. Her visit to a slum in Chandigarh instilled love and empathy for slum people in her, and inspired her to write Fate Upside Down.
