Dr. Goutam Sadhu

Dr. Goutam Sadhu is an accomplished academic, researcher, and development management professional with over 38 years of experience in public health, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), NGO management, microfinance, and social development across India and South Asia. He serves as Professor and Dean (Students’ Welfare) at IIHMR University, Jaipur, and has also been associated as Adjunct Faculty with the Department of International Health at Johns Hopkins University, USA. Throughout his career, he has collaborated closely with government departments, non-governmental organizations, academic institutions, and international development agencies.

His professional engagement centres on health systems strengthening, community engagement, monitoring and evaluation, financial inclusion within WASH programmes, and sustainable development initiatives. Dr. Sadhu has played a key role in advancing water credit and microfinance-linked public health interventions, helping to design community-driven and financially viable service delivery models. His expertise includes programme planning, implementation research, policy analysis, institutional development, and capacity building across several Indian states as well as parts of South Asia and Africa.

Dr. Sadhu has led or contributed to more than 40 research projects and has authored over 65 articles published in reputed journals. He has also written and edited books and technical reports addressing public health, development management, NGO governance, participatory approaches, and social accountability. His academic contributions consistently bridge theoretical insights with practical field experience.

In recognition of his impact on public health and development practice, he has received notable honours, including the Presidential Award, TITAN Award for his contributions to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in 2019 and the Linga Raj Award from the Indian Water Works Association in 2016, among other distinctions. His work continues to inform academic discourse, policy discussions, and development practice in the fields of health, water, sanitation, and inclusive growth.
