When words fail us, we fall back on the written word. Something that resonates.
A beloved story… A favourite song… A cherished poem…A comforting letter…
When, in moments like these, the senses are numbed and the heart has stilled; we look for reassurance that we are not alone, that someone knows what our hearts are yearning to tell. And when we find the words before us, words that reflect the whispers of our hearts, we know that we have found a friend.
I wrote the poems in this collection, “my Psalms on my knees”, when I was going through difficult times. As I knelt in prayer, and my lips won’t utter the waves that rolled in my heart; amidst tears, fears and grief, I found gladness on my knees pouring my prayers in verses.
These prayers in poetry have been my comfort and friend, and they have held me and strengthened me for quite a while now; and something like this, something that has the power to bring joy shouldn’t be kept to oneself.
So as I share this with you, I pray: May these prayers comfort and strengthen you; and give you meaning and joy whenever you feel overwhelmed.
