Sunsets Underwater

Author Name: Kanasha K | Format: Paperback | Genre : Poetry | Other Details

Sunsets Underwater is a collection of thirty poems exploring the drift between losing yourself and finding someone else. It is a circular journey of surrender, a story designed to begin exactly where it ends.

Kanasha K

Kanasha K, is a 19-year-old poet from Malaysia.

Writing isn’t something she treats as a hobby, She doesn’t believe in writing for the sake of sounding poetic or intellectual. Instead, she writes to document the friction of being alive, the moments where life feels too heavy, too fast, or too quiet to handle.

Sunsets Underwater is Kanasha’s second book. It is the result of a long, messy process that took a full year to complete. The manuscript didn’t just fall onto the page, it was a project of constant change. Over the course of twelve months, she tore the entire thing down and rewrote it from scratch twice. She didn’t stop until the structure of the book matched exactly how she wanted it to feel, a closed loop where the end always circles back to the beginning.

Being 19, Kanasha knows that life is rarely a straight line. She wanted this book to reflect that chaos, the way we break, the way we try to fix ourselves, and the way we eventually surrender to the things we can’t control. She isn’t interested in giving her readers neat, happy endings. She is interested in the truth of the descent, the feeling of going under, staying there, and realizing that the pressure isn't always something you need to fight.

When she isn't writing, Kanasha is usually working on the visual side of her projects, trying to find ways to make her words feel as physical as they do in her mind, whether it is writing for a song, painting or making overlays for her social media posts. For her, this book is a permanent record of who she was while she was trying to find her footing in a world that she never was in.

She is still here, still writing, and finding out what to write next. Sunsets Underwater isn't just a book you read, it’s a space she’s inviting you to sit with and stay for a while.
