Universal consciousness is a metaphysical concept suggesting an
underlying essence of all beings and becoming in the universe. We
may say consciousness is an entity which knows or experience.

Tononi proposed that we can identify a person’s (or an animal’s, or
even a computer’s) consciousness from the level of “information
integration” that is possible in the brain (or CPU). According to his
theory, the more information that is shared and processed between
many different components to contribute to that single experience,
then the higher the level of consciousness is.
Without consciousness, it's easy to become subject to the emotion. By
raising consciousness and being more aware of what's going on
around us, and within us, we have a better chance of turning the
emotion into an object. Consciousness allows us to plan activities and
to monitor our progress toward the goals we set for ourselves. And
consciousness is fundamental to our sense of morality.
According to Brahm Sutra, the indwelling human Soul is an immortal
bridge (Amritya-Setu) between the human body and the Universal
Consciousness of God. The highly educated, enlightened, and
empowered Souls take birth to introduce a new element of spiritual
evolution and to reveal the hidden secrets of the Higher Universe - the
Universal Consciousness.
