Real life hero- MALALA

by Fathima tanisha

"Who is your favourite superhero?" Asked the class teacher, to bring in some enthusiasm in those drowsy students. And not too by much surprise she succeeded, shouts came from all corners of the classroom. Some preferred Batman over Ironman, while most where overwhelmed by superman. It was quite known to her that even though they were 9th graders, superheroes were always admired and loved. But little did she know that there was something really different heading her way.

There was someone in that crowd who shared a different Perspective and stood up to voice it out. The girl who always topped the class, but always remained quite for some concealed cause, Sara Mariam was the one. Without any reluctance that she normally shows, she questioned the teacher "Ma'am , why are just fictional characters referred to superheroes , For me its people like Malala and Benazir Bhutto actually form the basis of superheroes. Quite astonished at what she just heard, she wanted to hear more, and therefore decided to take this topic further. "What makes you think so unique, Sara" asked the teacher, as she knew this girl had always hidden something in her face.

Sara knew that it was time,to let everyone know the incentive ,why she was always so grief-stricken. And then she began with her peregrination,15th november, 1999 she recalls the day with a lot of contentment after all it was the day her mom had triumphed to go against the whole family and give birth to a girl child. Little did her mother know, that her fight was not not over yet and there was more struggle coming her way. Things went normal for sara, as taunts weren't really bothering her, as it was quite known to her that in this world being a girl was considered a SIN.

But at one point things went out of hand, sara who was extremely passionate about studies, was forced to discontinue her studies and help her Ammi with the household. Without much option she with loads of pain said a final goodbye to studies.

Television, the so called IDIOT box, turned out to be a bright sunshine at night for Sara . Malala Yousafazai, at the UN was delivering her speech ,and it was with the blessing of almighty or so she taught, that she got a chance to hear her speech and was inspired and touched by it. She knew it was the sign of almighty to follow Malala's path and do what she is vehement about. Things changed big time for sara, she went against her whole family just the way her mother did 10 years back.

"And here i am today living on my own terms just because of the real life superhero Malala , and clinching all the knowledge possible." Sara ends it up with tears rolling down her cheek.

"Real superheroes are not the fictional characters but they are the ones who actually change your life "
