The authors, a noted expert on the topic, explores the basic concepts of signals, modulation, antennas, and propagation with a MATLAB emphasis. The book emphasizes practical applications and concepts needed by wireless engineers.
The authors introduce applications of wireless communications and includes information on satellite communications, radio frequency identification, and offers an overview with practical insights into the topic of multiple input multiple output (MIMO). The book also explains the security and health effects of wireless systems concerns on users and designers. Designed as a practical resource, the text contains a range of examples and pictures that illustrate many different aspects of wireless technology. The book relies on MATLAB for most of the computations and graphics. Written for students of engineering and physics and practicing engineers and scientists, Wireless Communications Systems covers the fundamentals of wireless engineering in a clear and concise manner and contains many illustrative examples.

Building Wireless Sensor Networks is an essential guide for anyone interested in wireless communications for sensor networks, home networking, or device hacking. It is a first step in becoming proficient in making these systems. It is not a textbook on protocols or a complete guide to networking theory. No engineering or computer science background is expected or required. Those who have fooled around a bit with electronics or programming will certainly have a leg up, but in general, this book is aimed at hobbyists, students, makers, hardware hackers, designers, artists, and prototypes. In the chapters to come, you will scaffold your way up toward greater comfort and proficiency with hardware, software, radio, and communications. I’ll explain everything necessary to get started, at least briefly. We’ll create examples using accessible environments, such as Arduino for hardware and Processing for displays. And I’ll provide a full range of resources, including helpful references to outside works for the electronics and networking novice. Whether you are a young inventor or an experienced engineer, this book focuses on getting your projects up and running as efficiently as possible.

The principal objectives of the book continue to be to provide an introduction to basic concepts and methodologies for digital image processing, and to develop a foundation that can be used as the basis for further study and research in this field. To achieve these objectives, we focused again on material that we believe is fundamental and whose scope of application is not limited to the solution of specialized problems. The mathematical complexity of the book remains at a level well within the grasp of college seniors and first-year graduate students who have introductory preparation in mathematical analysis, vectors, matrices, probability, statistics; linear systems, and computer programming. The book provides tutorials to support readers needing a review of this background material.

The aim of The Book of R: A First Course in Programming and Statistics is to provide a relatively gentle yet informative exposure to the statistical software environment R, alongside some common statistical analyses, so that readers may have a solid foundation from which to eventually become experts in their own right. Learning to use and program in a computing language is much the same as learning a new spoken language. At the beginning, it is often difficult and may even be daunting—but total immersion in and active use of the language is the best and most effective way to become fluent.
Many beginner-style texts that focus on R can generally be allocated to one of two categories: those concerned with computational aspects (that is, syntax and general programming tools) and those with statistical modeling and analysis in mind, often one particular type. In my experience, these texts are extremely well written and contain a wealth of useful information but better suit those individuals wanting to pursue fairly specific goals from the outset. This text seeks to combine the best of both worlds, by first focusing on only an appreciation and understanding of the language and its style and subsequently using these skills to fully introduce, conduct, and interpret some common statistical practices.

The books start with a derivation and discussion of the models of the most common power system components to be used in the power flow analysis. A derivation of the power flow equations based on physical considerations is then given. The resulting non-linear equations are for realistic power systems of very large dimension and they have to be solved numerically. The most commonly used techniques for solving these equations are reviewed. The role of power flow analysis in power system planning, operation and analysis is discussed. These lecture notes provide only a basic introduction to the topics above. To facilitate for readers who want to get a deeper knowledge of and insight into these problems, bibliographies are given in the text.

This book “Automobile Engineering” has been written according to the course on Automobile Engineering offered under various Undergraduate Engineering programs of many Universities in India. The main purpose is to make the reader understand and gain a thorough knowledge of the components, construction and operations of the present day automobiles. The subject matter has been arranged in a logical manner using simple, lucid language with examples and applications. The basic principles are explained in detail with references to the latest principles and practices. The topics have been carefully chosen to cover right from the fundamentals to those of present day relevance so that the students can have a clear understanding of the concept and its applications. All the important theoretical aspects – components of automobiles, transmission systems, auxiliary systems and suspension systems have been explained with the help of diagrams and illustrations to add clarity and creativity. We hope that this book would of immense use to the students and would fulfill their thirst of knowledge.

In just the past five years, deep learning has taken the world by surprise, driving rapid progress in such diverse fields as computer vision, natural language processing, automatic speech recognition, reinforcement learning, and biomedical informatics. Moreover, the success of deep learning on so many tasks of practical interest has even catalyzed developments in theoretical machine learning and statistics. With these advances in hand, we can now build cars that drive themselves with more autonomy than ever before (and less autonomy than some companies might have you believe), smart reply systems that automatically draft the most mundane emails, helping people dig out from oppressively large inboxes, and software agents that dominate the worldʼs best humans at board games like Go, a feat once thought to be decades away. Already, these tools exert ever-wider impacts on industry and society, changing the way movies are made, diseases are diagnosed, and playing a growing role in basic sciences—from astrophysics to biology.

Artificial Intelligence: Foundations of Computational Agents is a book about the science of artificial intelligence (AI). AI is the study of the design of intelligent computational agents. The book is structured as a textbook but it is designed to be accessible to a wide audience. The book can be used as an introductory text on artificial intelligence for advanced undergraduate or graduate students in computer science or related disciplines such as computer engineering, philosophy, cognitive science, or psychology. It will appeal more to the technically minded; parts are technically challenging, focusing on learning by doing: designing, building, and implementing systems. Any curious scientifically oriented reader will benefit from studying the book. Previous experience with computational systems is desirable, but prior study of the foundations upon which we build, including logic, probability, calculus, and control theory, is not necessary, because we develop the concepts as required.

Python reflects a number of growing trends in software development, putting it at or near the leading edge of good programming languages. It is a very simple language surrounded by a vast library of add-on modules. It is an open source project, supported by many individuals. It is an object-oriented language, binding data and processing into class definitions. It is a platform-independent, scripted language, with complete access to operating system API's. It supports integration of complex solutions from pre-built components. It is a dynamic language, which avoids many of the complexities and overheads of compiled languages.
This book is a complete presentation of the Python language. It is oriented toward learning, which involves accumulating many closely intertwined concepts. In our experience teaching, coaching and doing programming, there is an upper limit on the “clue absorption rate”. In order to keep within this limit, we've found that it helps to present a language as ever-expanding layers. We'll lead you from a very tiny, easy to understand subset of statements to the entire Python language and all of the built-in data structures. We've also found that doing a number of exercises helps internalize each language concept.
