He joined a reputed multinational software company just after completion of degree, later quit from there and now he is a nuclear scientist. He is also a Faculty to handle "Process Analysis & Control", "Maintenance Engineering", "Process Design & Control" and "Reliability Engineering" courses for Trainee Nuclear Engineers. He is qualified in Level-II Ultrasonic NDT technique, trained in “Design for Additive Manufacturing” and Life member of Institute of Engineers (India), Instrument Society of India & International Association of Engineers. During his industrial carrier, few of the important activities are design of large electrical machine and power converters, analysis in Finite Element Modelling, CFD etc. His main area of interests are Induction motor control, Micro-controller Applications, Power Electronics & Control and Medical Instrumentation. DC Motors are widely used in industries, especially in areas where wide range of speed is required. So, DC Motors are used in many adjustable speed drives. So, the main aim of this project was to control the speed of a DC Motor using PI Controller, whenever there are fluctuation in the input.
In this course, I learnt the architecture of AtMega328P microcontroller, its pin configurations and the AVR libraries. I was able to work with the ADC libraries

In this course, I learnt the architecture of AtMega328P microcontroller, its pin configurations and the AVR libraries. I was able to work with the ADC libraries of the microcontroller. Then I learnt the concept of PWM, dead time generation, hardware interrupt and quadrature pulse counting. I learnt the hardware connections for these concepts. I understood the basics of digital controller. I learnt how to implement the digital controller in AtMega328P. I also learnt the code required for implementing these using the AVR libraries.
At last, using all these concepts, I learnt to implement the closed loop RPM control of the DC motor.

This motor is small in size and has high holding torque. It converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. We control this motor using the L298d motor driver, but it also has a dedicated motor driver A4998. L298 is a very common driver that can control any type of motor, so let’s try using this. How to change the direction? We are able to do so using the H-bridge available in the motor driver. This is an internal process, we manually control it using push buttons. Can we control the speed? Mineral Insulated (MI) cable is a variant of electrical cable of metallic sheath and mineral insulation between the conductors. The requirement of MI cable is growing day by day because it is the only alternative in high temperature applications, mainly in Nuclear Reactors, Fire Alarm Systems, Thermocouples, Oil Refineries, Furnaces, Heaters, Power Station etc. Normally the core temperature of Breeder reactors will be in the range of 400°C to 500°C. The signal transmission of neutronic sensor is impossible without MI cable. Normally, magnesium oxide (MgO) is used as insulation to separate the conductors as well as to insulate between the conductor and the outer sheath. We have used copper conductor and copper sheath because copper has a pure anti-ferromagnetic property thereby resulting in negligible electromagnetic interference during signal transmission. For the insulation, we have used MgO due to its superior dielectric withstandability and high temperature tolerance even though it is highly hygroscopic. During the selection of dielectrics, electrical resistivity of the insulation was studied at operating temperature with specified density. High electrical resistivity infers better insulation resistance. So thermal conductivity of the insulation was also taken as an important criteria during insulation selection. For the purpose of conversion, a switching circuit is employed which grossly consists of two elements, namely the switch and the voltage modulation method. In this book, a 6-IGBT bridge circuit along with a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) generator has been used. The average thermal loss of the inverter, constituting the thermal and conduction losses of the switches, is coupled with the respective loads using neural network simulation to give a building relation. Based on that, the heat sink is designed for effective heat dissipation. The thermal design is optimized on the basis of a parametric model, depending on a number of factors such as its size and shape, placement of switches, and structure of its fins, to keep a balance between the maximum temperature and the load applied. Overall, this Conjugate Heat Transfer (CHT) analysis involves three sections: Circuit Design, Neural Network Simulation, and Parametric Modelling of the Heat Sink.
