Dr Aich spent 6 years at the Central Institute of Psychiatry (CIP), Ranchi, a more than hundred years old psychiatry teaching and training center in India. At CIP he completed his Diploma in Psychological Medicine (DPM), MD in Psychiatry and a short period of Senior Residency in a de-addiction center within the campus of CIP. The current book narrates his diverse experiences while pursuing his studies in the institute. Through these writings he attempted to capture the various shades of human emotions, complexities of human relations, and the campus life in India’s one of the oldest and prestigious mental hospitals.
“You observed your own life quite well, as it is passing by, and that helped you easily recollect details from your past. It is an art and an excellent habit to consciously extract the most from each minute of one’s life. It shows how much regard and respect you have for your own life and life in general. It also shows how thankful you are to God or the Supreme One and to your own parents, for giving your life and opportunities. When one writes and publishes one’s memoir, it shows how confident one is about one’s rightful and RESPONSIBLE living... how one takes entire responsibility for how one’s life went by... You are great Dada”

For the benefit of the readers, the book is divided into five chapters: creativity and mental health, a collection of random thoughts, brief essays on various topics on schizophrenia, different shades in the clinical presentation of depression and a collection of clinical vignettes in various neuro-psychiatric illnesses. A special feature of this book is the collection of comments/discussion posted by the author’s social media friends, in many of the write-ups.

My hospital job was also got suspended. I thought of penning few lines on my experiences gained, mostly during my stay in army, as a measure of some creative work!
I poured out memoirs one after the other. Friend’s appreciation and encouragement prompted me to write more. Few of my elders, friends, colleagues, and well-wishers gave me the idea to compile all these memoirs in a book form.
This book is a collection of multiple brief memoirs, mostly, of my army days, which I posted in social media during the last one-and-half years. I have decided to keep few of the comments, notes and appreciations posted by my social media friends, in preparing the final draft of the present book.
I hope and pray that my dear readers will find these memoirs and the format of presentation an interesting one. Positive comments from my readers will give me the impetus to write few more such memoirs of my life the coming days.
