As is the Principal, so is the School. The personality of a Principal reflects in the Institution he/she heads. The achievements of the school both in scholastic and co-scholastic spheres depend on the managerial and leadership skills of the principal.Education is the greatest tool to level Social and Economic differences prevailing in the society. India can be brought on the threshold of 21st century mainly through Education.Educational Institutions both academic and professional lay the foundation of overall development through the quality education imparted by them. Quality Education is impossible without quality teachers and quality principals. The institutions can realize the objectives of Quality Education only when the planning and monitoring systems are not only effective but very strong mechanisms has to be developed. All this is possible when the person at the helm is a Visionary and a Missionary. He/She has a vision to fulfill and a mission to achieve; therefore a Principal must have core-beliefs, ideals, and principles which will help in making the institution a learning organization.In this book efforts have been made to incorporate all those Principles, Abilities and Qualities which the Principal must possess to administer, monitor, supervise ,guide and Lead. It is indeed a pleasure for me to have shared my own experiences and experimentations of Principalship in the book.
Education in recent times has become the largest global industry. It played a dominant role in the processes of Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization. All educational institutions lay emphasis on Quality Education. It is a far cry in the absence of Quality teachers. Education in recent times has become the largest global industry. It played a dominant role in the processes of Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization. All educational institutions lay emphasis on Quality Education. It is a far cry in the absence of Quality teachers. Unfortunately there is an acute shortage of quality teachers all over in general and India in particular. Reason being perhaps teaching is the last destination for the intelligentsias. Therefore a majority of teachers are the " Teachers by Chance and not by choice " .
This book is an effort towards enhancing the effectiveness of teachers so that the objectives of Quality Education can be accomplished to a greater extent .This is based on my vast and varied experiences and experiments of teaching, training and educational administration . Hopefully it will enrich and equip the teachers fraternity with necessary tools and techniques of effective teaching. The inputs in the book have been tested and experimented in various school systems for teaching and training.

राजू बेचारा वस्तविक घटनाओं पर आधारित एक आत्म कथा है। पुस्तक आजीवन घटनाचक्र को इस प्रकार दर्शाती है कि बचपन से बुढ़ापे तक घटित सभी घटनाएं सम्मिलित हो जाती हैं। मुख्य पात्र राजू के जीवन से संबधित वास्तविक घटनाओं का उल्लेख संक्षिप्त रूप में किया गया है। हर घटना में राजू की मजबूरी व बेचारपन झलकता है और इसी कारण इस पुस्तक को राजू बेचारा नाम दिया गया।
राजू का जीवन संघर्षमय है। संघर्ष के साथ साथ परेशानइयाँ भी पीछा करती रहीं। राजू हर परेशानी का सामना करता है और आगे बढ़ता है। अनेक बाधाओं व कठिनायों के होते हुए भी जीवन में पीछे न देखना हर घटनाक्रम में उलेखित है। सुविधाओं का अभाव, आर्थिक तंगी, गाइडेंस की कमी का राजू जीवन भर सामना करता रहा। आगे बढ़ने का सदैव प्रयत्न करता रहा और बढ़ा भी। लेखक ने उन सभी घटनाओं को चरितार्थ करने के प्रयास किये हैं जो राजू के जीवन में वास्तविक रूप में घटित हुई हैं।
जीवन की प्रतियोगिताओं के सामना के साथ साथ राजू अपने उत्तरदावितों को भी भली भांति निभाता रहा। इस संग्रह के हर चैप्टर में राजू की मजबूरी और बेचारपन प्रदर्शित होता है। गांव में माँ के पास ही रह कर पढ़ना चाहता था पर शहर में पिता के पास पढ़ना पड़ा। छुट्टियों में गाँव जाना चाहा पर शहर में दुकान पर बैठना पड़ा। शादी के लिए मना किया पर करनी पड़ी। मास्टर नहीं बनना चाहा पर बनना पड़ा, आदि आदि।
अधिकांश संदर्भ बचपन से लेकर बुढ़ापे तक की घटनाओं का है। माता पिता, गुरुजनों, मित्रों, सहयोगियों, उच्च अधिकारियों व अधनिसस्त कर्मचारियों के सहयोग व योगदान की चर्चा भी पुस्तक में की गई है। जीवन में घटित वास्तविक घटनाओं के वर्णन से पुस्तक को रुचिकर बनाने के प्रयास किये गए हैं।
