Marriage to Prof. B. Ravi, a faculty member at IIT Bombay, brought her back to Mumbai. Although a biochemist by training, she has an innate love for history. She has travelled and explored the length and breadth of India while raising two wonderful children. Having grown up hearing stories about her paternal grandfather, Dr. Satyanarayana Kambhampati (Satyam) – a freedom fighter and the hero of this tale, she has penned down his-story for posterity. This book, which is her debut as an author, is a loving tribute to him on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day Anniversary of India.

This book is a tribute to the life and times of an Indian freedom fighter Dr. Satyanarayana Kambhampati (1914-1986). Through painstakingly collected oral histories, the author has traced an intimate portrait of his life, which is narrated alongside the story of Indian independence from British colonial rule.
Over his lifetime, Satyam donned many other roles including mathematician, lawyer, passionate nationalist, prison escapee, PhD scholar, absentee father, family man and doting grandfather. From encountering Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at Andhra University to sharing jail space with prominent national leaders, the pages of this book are dotted with many familiar personalities whom one would not expect to encounter.
We often don't know the histories of those closest to us. In discovering and sharing this memoir, the author hopes to connect countless families to their own stories of the past.
