He retired from Delhi International Airport in 2009 to continue as a freelancing consultant. His papers, articles and profile published on academia.edu has been read and utilized by aviators and researchers from 140 countries. The essence of his research carried out on Milvus migrans govinda Sykes (Pariah Kite) as a problem bird at Indian aerodromes for his doctoral programme was published in February 1992 issue of ICAO Journal. He is grateful to ICAO for the help rendered to him in 1992 by publishing his paper in ICAO Journal. The Author says Aerodrome Wildlife Hazard Management is a very serious but highly enjoyable and satisfying continuous journey but not a destination, where a long checklist on hazards –can be a dysfunctional bird scaring equipment used by a bird as a perch, a bird or animal dead or alive, a utility structure such as flood light mast or wind sock used by bird or a non-motivated employee not have belongingness to airport or not passionate about work) to aircraft flight safety in and around aerodromes to be identified and removed smartly and diligently on adaily basis or 24x7. The Author is also a Gypsophil and a vulture enthusiast and would like to see vultures, the Life Insurance and Health Insurance agents of Nature for all species on the earth, by setting up a string of vulture restaurants far away from cities and aerodromes (200km away from military aerodromes and 100 km away from civil aerodromes) ideally on the outskirts of Protected Areas (Wildlife Sanctuaries, National Parks and Biosphere reserves) with carnivores such as lions and tigers so that they can happily execute their indispensable ecological function of scavenging without conflicting with human lifestyles and without colliding with aircraft thus saving fliers, aircraft and vultures. Knowing the truth is a right and not a privilege while speaking the truth is a birth-right of all citizens indispensable to a flourishing democracy.

This handbook and field guide will be an indispensable asset to aerodrome operators, aviation regulators, Ornithologists, Wildlife Hazard Managers and Airfield Monitoring Inspectors working at Indian and foreign aerodromes to effectively contain aerodrome wildlife hazard and reduce bird and animal aircraft collision incidents to desirable levels. Author is confident that using this field guide airport operators can optimize on expenses incurred on machines deployed and manpower employed for intervention of bird and animal menace on aerodromes. Need for outsourcing the entire WHM or BASHM work also can be removed by training the employees of the WHM team. Reducing Bird Strike Rate, animal presence on aerodromes, their concentration on and around live runways, minimizing damage-causing accidents due to collision with large birds and animals (flying and ground) as well as flocking birds. This Field Guide will prove to be a boon to all WHM employees, Ornithologist-cum-WHM Heads, airport operators and aviation regulators. This book is author’s magnum opus a result of his dedication, passion and focus to find out solutions for Aerodrome Wildlife Hazards. Paucity of funds, non-availability of expertise or ignorance should not be used as a fig leaf to cover responsibility and accountability in providing total aviation safety containing bird and animal menace to aircraft flight safety that is non-negotiable.
