Dr. Bhagirath. S. Naganath is an anaesthetist by profession. He hails from Mysore in South India. In spite of a hectic schedule at work, writing constitutes a prominent part of his creative itinerary. ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತನೆ ಶತಮಾನದ ಆದಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೈಸೂರು ಸಂಸ್ಥಾನವು ಶ್ರೀ ನಾಲ್ವಡಿ ಕೃಷ್ಣರಾಜ ಓಡೆಯರ್ ಅವರ ಆಡಳಿತಕ್ಕೆ ಒಳಪಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಈ ಸಂಧರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜಋಷಿಗಳ ಕನಸಿನ ಕೂಸಾದ ಮೈಸೂರು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯ ೧೯೧೯ರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಗೊಂಡಿತು. ಶ್ರೀಮನ್ಮಹಾಜರು ದೇಶವಿದೇಶಗಳಿಂದ ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ವರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಮಹಾರಾಜ ಕಾಲೇಜು ಮತ್ತು ಸೆಂಟ್ರಲ್ ಕಾಲೇಜ್ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿಗೆ ನೇಮಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಅತಿರಥ ಮಹಾರಥರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಡಾ।। ಎಸ್. ಎನ್. ಭಗೀರಥ್ ರವರು ಶತಮಾನೋತ್ಸವ ಸಂಧರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೈಸೂರಿನ ಸಂಧ್ಯಾ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಯಾದ "ಸ್ಟಾರ್ ಆಫ್ ಮೈಸೂರ್”ಗೆ ಈ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿ ಚಿತ್ರಣಗಳನ್ನು ಲೇಖನದ ರೂಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕಟಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದರು. ಕೆಲವಾರು ಪಂಡಿತೋತ್ತಮರ ಹೆಸರುಗಳನ್ನು ಪಟ್ಟಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ - ಡಾ।। ಆರ್. ಶಾಮಶಾಸ್ತ್ರೀ, ಪ್ರೊ. ಎಂ. ಹಿರಿಯಣ್ಣ, ಡಾ।। ಎಂ. ಹೆಚ್. ಕೃಷ್ಣ, ಡಾ।। ಡಿ. ಎಲ್. ನರಸಿಂಹಾಚಾರ್, ಡಾ।। ಜಿ. ವೆಂಕಟಸುಬ್ಬಯ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ।। ಎಂ. ಷಡಾಕ್ಪರಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಮತ್ತಿತ್ತರು.

Dr. Bhagirath. S. Naganath is an anaesthetist by profession. He hails from Mysore in South India. He happens to be the grandson of eminent Indian historian and Indologist Dr. S. Srikanta Sastri. He  shares a keen interest in History, Indology and Indus Valley Archaeology and helps his father, Prof. S. Naganath in their combined efforts at re-publishing, editing and translating many of Dr. S. Srikanta Sastri’s works. Dr. Bhagirath manages a website (www.srikanta-sastri.org) where he showcases most of his grandfather’s works and price-less group photographs from the hey days of University of Mysore.
