Cities implementing airports and related developments handle them with the utmost sensitivity. Such ancillary developments keep emerging because of airports' advantages to businesses in the fast-paced, globally networked economy. The most competitive manufacturers, import-export companies, and all other industries that require in-person face-to-face exchanges often rely on advanced information technology and high-speed transportation to respond quickly to their client’s unique needs. However, how are such synchronized systems put in place? What is the way to develop such spaces in the extended city region?
Around the world, the implementation of high-capacity transport corridors has resulted in an increased commercial and residential demand along the corridors, thus changing the land values and, eventually, the land uses of the areas surrounding the interchange nodes such as Airports, International Ferry Terminals, High-Speed Rail Stations, Metro Rail Stations, and other transport Interchanges. However, as the impacts of the improved facilities would not be limited to a smaller area, attempting to arrive at strategies for development before the integration of land use planning would be an appropriate approach to look at it. The book builds on these perspectives and provides a just way of Strategic Planning for Airport Influence Zones and Areas.
