Prof. Dr. G. Sundhar Krishnan completed his M.B.B.S. from Stanley Medical College, Chennai. He completed his D.L.O. and M.S. (ENT) from Madras Medical College, Chennai, in 1994. He was awarded a Ph.D. in Endoscopic Skull Base Surgery by Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, in 2007. He retired as a professor from the Department of ENT, Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and Madras Medical College. He is now working in his private hospital, Krishna Eye & ENT Hospitals, Chennai, along with his beloved wife, Dr. P. Kanthamani, who is a dedicated ophthalmologist, serving the society with their helping nature and affordable medical services.
The author has more than 30 years of experience in clinical practice and teaching for UG and PG students. He has performed more than 700 pituitary cases with supra and parasellar extensions endoscopically. He has performed more than 1000 other endoscopic skull base surgeries including CSF rhinorrhoea repair, craniopharyngioma excision, Clivoma removal, optic canal and orbital decompression, JNA removal, fibrous dysplasia, parapharyngeal tumour excision and others. His endoscopic ear, nasal and laryngeal surgeries log exceeds more than 30000 to date. He has 5 gold medal-winning papers presented in various state and national conferences. He has published more than 100 papers in Indian and international conferences and has organised various live surgical workshops throughout his career. He is the first surgeon in Asia to introduce the technique of endoscopic stapedectomy in the early ‘90s for which he was awarded the title, ‘Father of Endoscopic Stapedectomy’.
