Dr. Alok Ranjan is a senior interventional cardiologist in Gujarat. His first book as a co-author on transradial interventions, "Patel’s Atlas on Transradial Interventions: The Basics" was first of its kind. This book was meant for hardcore coronary interventional cardiologists. He has also written a series of handbooks on rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart diseases, that are useful for medical graduates and clinical cardiologists. He has highlighted Indian characteristics and studies in his books in great detail. His main interest is in diseases which are prevalent in the Indian subcontinent. After his book series on rheumatic diseases, he published books on aortoarteritis, ruptured sinus of valsalva, constrictive pericarditis and endomyocardial fibrosis. 
 
A Handbook of Eisenmenger Syndrome and Marfan Syndrome, his second book published by Notion Press, deals with Eisenmenger syndrome and Marfan syndrome. In all these books he has maintained a simple yet comprehensive description of diseases. Like his earlier handbooks, this book should also serve as a great reference book on these topics.
