Seascape being his third book of poems in print, could only happen thanks to the encouragement of an increasing readership. Earlier books are Of Dreams & Dreamers and Of Dreams & Mermaids.
He was a Captain in the Merchant Navy; sailed for close to 27 years, and circumnavigated the world numerous times on the freighters.
Bhutto loves his family, his pets, eggs, books, the ocean, CNN news, mithai, chocolate milkshakes, good coffee, a great Single Malt, dinners with friends, cycling, and the occasional film.
After leaving sea he was in the retail of FMCG goods; in partnership with a major health food company that was recently sold and now holds a senior management position in the hospitality industry. To all who know him, Devendra is the ‘rock’, the dependable source of strength, the pillar, the listener and the ever-reliable ‘Father, Husband, Friend, Boss and also ‘Bestest’ friend to his beloved pets’.
He prefers being called a wordsmith rather than a poet.

Of Dreams and Mermaids is a meditative canvas of verses from the seas and shores. A roadside bench could be the hero in one and God Himself in another. A petal takes centre stage but then so does the City itself. When one is humbled by a storm at sea, the answer in the other is sought through a lively easel. Without preaching, the poems gently guide you into realizing that the everyday is as precious and beautiful as the exotic and the adventurous. So

Some beautiful colour photography from around the world accompanies this very special book of verses.
