ZakiaSoman is the Co-Founder of Bharatiya Muslim Mahila Andolan which strives for Muslim women’s’ citizenship rights and for gender justice in Islam. She is the Founder of Centre for Peace Studies hosted by Action Aid which is engaged in knowledge activism for peace and justice. She received the Outstanding Women Achievers’ award from the National Commission for Women in 2014. She was featured in BBC’s 100 Fearless Women. She writes and speaks on issues concerning Muslim women, peace and justice, minorities, pluralism and secularism. She holds an M.A and M.Phil in English Literature from Gujarat University.
Both the authors have been co-petitioners in the landmark Haji Ali case and also in the landmark judgment by the Supreme Court against triple divorce. Apart from authoring and co-authoring numerous articles in esteemed magazines and newspapers, they have also co-authored multiple books.
