Coming from a family of voracious readers whose house was littered with books, even in early childhood, Hazel would spin tales in her head. Later, as she tried her hand at content writing, report writing, translation and a brief stint at copywriting in an advertisement firm, she realised her potential as a writer. But she deferred the decision to take up writing as full-time occupation until now. Contributions to magazines and newspapers on travel, tradition and culture as well as short stories and poems gradually helped her to grow as a writer, and she has also done a writing course from Writers Bureau, UK. She was encouraged to take up writing in a big way. She tried her stint at non-fiction when her tutor asked her to publish one of her assignments after checking out facts and improving it. So here she is, embarking on a journey fuelled by her love for words and a passion for stories.

A Cache of Coffee is not just a timeline of events, but an adventure mystery with lots of intrigue, murder, religion and even romance woven into it – with mystic monks, swashbuckling generals, conniving politicians, thieves and smugglers and even romantic heroes playing the lead roles to deliver this beverage to the masses. In fact, the book is a complete treatise on every aspect of coffee – from its origin to its cultivation, from it’s processing to the artistry of brewing coffee – and can introduce the reader to the wonderful world of coffee! There is also a special emphasis on the Indian context of growing coffee from Hazel's own association with the plantation industry.
