Dr. Jayeeta Ganguly was born to Kalyani and Jayanta Kumar Ganguly in Kolkata. Her schooling was in Delhi (Carmel Convent School) and Kolkata (St. John’s Diocesan School). Passionate about languages since her teenage years, she joined the Department of Chinese Language and Culture under Visva-Bharati University.
