The world of Hindi literature lost a budding author to babudom when the 22 year old Assistant Professor of Allahabad University joined the Indian civil services (IAS) in 1962. Kamalakar Mishra held many senior positions in the Government of India and the West Bengal State Government. He retired in 2000 after serving as the Chief Executive of the West Bengal Human Rights Commission. He has also served in the Government of India as an Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Home, as a Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Power / Fertilizers and Chemicals and many other senior Government roles including in the Finance Commission.
Mr Mishra can usually be found watching comedy shows on TV, loves his evening walks and excessively indulges in sweets with a predilection for mishti-doi. He follows the good and the bad of politics and the rise and falls in the stock market. He is a voracious reader and has interesting points of view on literary works like Kalidasa and other classical authors.
 The author schooled at DAV College in Varanasi and topped Allahabad University (B.A. and M.A.) in Philosophy and Sanskrit literature.   He lives in Mumbai with his wife and has recently mastered video calling his 2 grandchildren; Naina and Varun. You can email him at [link removed]
