Lyju Kuruvilla, a rank holder in M.B.A from the Cochin University of Science & Technology is basically a science graduate who disliked botany during his college days. But later as he grew fascinated with plants and gardening, this knowledge of botany helped him a lot. He got attracted to the art of bonsai and has been practicing this art for quite a number of years.
 
He has been a resident of Chennai for the last 40 years working in the corporate sector, with the last few years of his professional career in the hospital sector. Though he specialized in finance, he started his career in marketing and went up the ladder to the post of a General Manager. Today he is an avid plant lover and spends majority of his time with his bonsai and his house is filled with numerous bonsai created by him. He also teaches this art to people who are interested. His other passions include collecting Adenium (desert rose) and has around 250 varieties of them in his garden. He is an all rounder with keen interests in oil painting, coin collection and sculpturing.
