Dr. Nirmala Arul
Dr. Nirmala Arul belongs to the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary (IBVM), known as the Loreto Sisters. She has been a member of the Loreto fraternity for the last 25 years and has been engaged in teaching and administration in the Loreto schools, for two decades. Holding a Doctorate in Education from Don Bosco University, Guwahati, Assam - India, on Community Service Learning and its Impact on Life Skills Development among School Children, she has a vision and a plan for easy implementation of the same.
She has been the Loreto South Asia Province representative of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation, (JPIC- a Loreto world-wide movement), in the UN, for the past six years. She was closely involved in implementing the UN Sustainability Development Goals- SDGs 2030, in Loreto schools in India, and is at present in Casa Generalizia, Rome - Italy, exploring the possibilities of sustainability for Loreto missions in developing countries. She is also actively engaged in the Child Care Reform movement in the UISG (International Union of Superior Generals), that encourages a smooth transition from institutional care of children to family and community-based care. Dr. A. Nirmala is deeply committed to the protection and welfare of children, young persons and vulnerable adults, and for the past three years she has zealously devoted herself to the drawing up of principles and procedures for the safeguarding of minors and vulnerable adults in the South Asia Province of the Congregation.
Dr. A Radhakrishnan Nair
Dr. Nair started his career in Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. He worked as Faculty Head of the Adolescent Health and Development division and Head of the Department of Life Skills Education and Social Harmony at Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD), Sriperumbudur, TN and as Registrar of the Central University of Kerala. At present Dr. Nair is the Visiting Professor of Assam Don Bosco University. He is the Managing Trustee of The Taurus Trust, an organization that promotes life skills education and community development programmes. He is the Founding President of the Indian Association of Life Skills Education- an association of professionals working in the field of life skills education and was the Managing Editor of the International Journal of Life Skills Education. An ardent researcher in life skills education, Dr. Nair was the team leader who developed a standardized scale to assess life skills among adolescents and youth. He has published several articles in national and international journals on the themes of life skills, adolescents, youths, and tribal issues. He has edited and published several books, contributed chapters to several books, and also authored books. He is one of the leading consultants in the subject of life skills education, adolescent, and youth development in the country. His recently published books are Life Skills Ready Reckoner, Essays on Women Empowerment, and Bibliography of Life Skills and Related Subjects.
