M. Pavunraj

I was born in Nathiiyanur (Ariyalur District), where the river flows, saying that the wind will change direction if you blow it. That's why I sent the message through River. I did my schooling in my hometown. I enrolled in B.Sc., Zoology at the Thanjavur Rajah Serfoji Government College, which was was an incredible experience. I was admitted to the Thanjavur-Sri Poondi A. Veeraiya Vandaiyar Memorial Sri Pushpam College for M.Sc., Zoology. I also obtained first place in the Master of Science degrees of M.Sc., Medical Social Science and M.Sc., Counseling Psychology from the University of Madras. I did my Ph. D., Doctorate, by researching at the Institute of Entomology, Loyola College, Chennai. I also obtained a Post Graduate diploma in Environmental Science (PGDESD) from the Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. In 2012, I received the Young Scientist Award (DST-Young Scientist) from the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, Government of India, and in 2019, I received the Young Scientist Award from the Hindu Banaras Central University, Varanasi, UP. I also received a certificate for the best research paper for participating and speaking at an international science symposium organized by the National University of Singapore Society in 2019. I am currently working as a professor at Sholavandhan-Tiruvedakam Vivekananda College, Madurai.

Even as my scientific journey continued on the research tracks, Tamil literature was slowly and steadily growing in my inner space. I participated in a poetry competition in my school days and wrote a poem titled "Vanuyar Gopuram" and won the first prize. Also, when I was studying in the third year of college, I wrote a poem titled "Zoological Love" in the college annuarium and received praise from many in the college, including the head of the department. I started writing poetry out of my undying love for Tamil. For that, I stirred up beautiful memories. I captured a scene in my imagination. I breathed in my pen. The sounds that arose from the breath I took are this poetic paradise, "You are the wonder of the world that UNESCO forgot to recognize." I hope that whenever you travel in this paradise, your heart will soar towards the sky.

தென்றல் யாருக்குப் பிடிக்காது? தென்றலுக்குப் பிடிக்காதவர்கள்தான் யார்? மழை யாருக்குப் பிடிக்காது? மழைக்குப் பிடிக்காதவர்கள்தான் யார்? தென்றலும் மழையும் போல் தான் காதலும். காதல் பிடிக்காதவர்கள் யார்? காதல் இது வெறும் வார்த்தை இல்லை. இந்தப் பிரபஞ்சத்தை இயக்கிக் கொண்டிருக்கும் இயற்கைச் சக்திகளில் ஒன்று. காதல் மனிதர்களுக்குள் சாதி மத முரண்களைக் களைந்து சமூக மாற்றத்திற்கும் மத நல்லிணக்கத்திற்கும் பெரிதும் துணை புரியும் ஒரு சக்தி வாய்ந்த ஆயுதம். காதல் மனித மனங்களைப் புதுப்பித்து வாழ்க்கையை வண்ணங்கள் ஆக்குவதோடு மன எழுச்சியையும் ஏற்படுத்துகிறது. இப்படியான காதல்தான் மனிதனை மனிதனாகவும் மகத்தானவனாகவும் மாற்றுகிறது.

‟பிறப்பொக்கும் எல்லா உயிர்க்கும்” என்கிறார் வள்ளுவப் பெருந்தகை. அதுபோல்தான் இந்தப் பரந்த உலகத்தில் காதல் மனிதர்களுக்கிடையே மட்டுமல்ல புல், பூண்டு, மரம், செடி, கொடி, பறவைகள், விலங்குகள் முதலான உலகத்து அனைத்து உயிர்களுக்கும் உள்ள பொதுவான உணர்வு ஆகும். நாம் கற்காமலேயே நம்மில் தோன்றும் ஓர் அழகான உணர்வுதான் காதல். இந்த உணர்வில் மயங்காதவர்கள் எவரும் இருக்க முடியாது. காதல் எப்போதும் அன்பு பாசத்தைவிட ஒரு படி மேலே சென்று உணர்வுகளைப் பிரதிபலிக்கின்றது. ஆகையால் எல்லோரும் காதல் செய்யுங்கள். என் இனியவர்களே...! அன்பால் இனிப்பவர்களே...! ‟யுனெஸ்கோ அங்கீகரிக்க மறந்த உலக அதிசயம் நீ...!” என்ற இந்தக் கவிதைத் தொகுப்பு முழுவதும் பூஞ்சோலையில் மலர்ந்திருக்கும் பூக்கள் போல காதல் நிரம்பி இருக்கிறது. இத்தொகுப்பில் நான் எழுதி இருக்கும் கவிதைகள் எல்லாம் எனது பள்ளி மற்றும் கல்லூரிக் காலங்களில் நான் பார்த்து ரசித்த, என் உள்ளத்தைக் கொள்ளை கொண்ட சில அழகான தருணங்கள். மேலும் நான் கடந்து வந்த வாழ்க்கைப் பாதையில் என்னைக் கடந்து போன சில அழகு தேவதைகள் என்னுள் ஏற்படுத்திய இன்ப அதிர்வுகளே இங்கு கவிதைகளாகப் பூத்து மணம் வீசிக் கொண்டிருக்கின்றன.
