Dr Salam D Singh

Dr. Salam D Singh is a scholar and a development worker by profession. At present, he is working as a District Youth Coordinator at Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India and is currently posted at Shillong, Meghalaya. He implements a host of nation-building programmes of the Central Government, motivating youth at the grassroots level. In the past, the author has published books and articles on United Nations Volunteers, Volunteerism and youth development issues. He has also presented many papers at various national and international seminars, both in India and abroad, with a focus on youth affairs. In 1991, he enrolled in United Nations Volunteer Programme, Geneva for community service in Indonesia and did his Ph.D. on UNV activities. He has been associated with the International Association for Volunteers Effort (IAVE), USA since 2001. In 2011, he was one of the Group Leaders of the historic Indian Youth Delegation of 500 members who had visited different cities including Shanghai, Beijing and Nanjing in China as part of the India-China Youth Exchange Programme, which is the subject of this book. In 2012, he was nominated as a member of the National Task Force for reviewing youth programmes in the country by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
