Vijay Bansal was born in pre-partition Lahore on 4th September, 1942 in a large middle class joint Hindu Family. His father was a known Barrister practising Income Tax & Company Law. The family comprising of his parents, six brothers and one sister moved to Dehradun in 1947 when Hindi-Muslim riots were at its peak.
