Born and raised in the enchanting southernmost district of India, Shelma hails from Kanniyakumari—a place famed for its tourism, yet somehow still unexplored by its own resident daydreamer. Living with her parents and elder brother, she grew up in a large family surrounded by local folklore and magical realism. Math problems? Not so much. Instead, she was lost in fantastical tales, dreaming up worlds far more exciting than arithmetic.
By day, Shelma is a Senior Software Engineer, battling bugs in code with the same valour as her mythical heroes fight for justice, often swearing up a storm over a particularly stubborn bug fix. By night, she escapes to a parallel universe filled with epic quests and legendary adventures—armed with coffee and surrounded by ghosts that prefer to keep a cautious distance.
"The Land of Ataraxia: Genesis" has been her passion project since the 8th grade, though it was once put on hold when her friends deemed the idea as silly as she was. But with encouragement from true friends and loved ones, she’s thrilled to finally share it with the world. Initially hiding behind the pen name S.S. Merce due to low self-esteem, therapy has since emboldened her to proudly publish under her real name. Shelma isn’t just an author; she’s your fellow daydreamer, coffee enthusiast, procrastinator, and avid pet lover who visits her friends' pets (who wisely give her a wide berth).
