Dr. Padmakumar
A native of the temple town of Ambalapuzha and settled in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram, Padmakumar is a practicing Plastic Surgeon. He spent his childhood in Malaysia. His early education in that free and cosmopolitan country helped shape his broad outlook on life. Padmakumar retired from the Medical Education Department of Kerala, as a Professor & Head of Plastic Surgery, in 2006. He had served in almost all the Medical Colleges in the State in varying capacities. A six-year stint in Saudi Arabia served to further broaden his experience. For the last eleven-odd years he had served as Principal of a self-financing Medical College in the Kanyakumari District of Tamilnadu, just across the border. Cramped by hectic teaching schedules, surgery, and administration, his literary interests had perforce taken a back seat. He confined his penning skills to the writing of topics of his discipline, both in the vernacular and English. He has had a number of his Malayalam short stories published. Padmakumar published his first English novel, “DOOR TO HELL” in 2019.
“BIOHAZARD” is his second book. It belongs to a different literary genre in comparison to his first.At seventy and two, living with his family, he continues his professional and literary pursuits with undiminished fervor.
