Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalDuring the devastating second wave of COVID-19, the author’s life changed in an instant. Those days, she found herself in the ICU, struggling for every breath, surrounded by machines, silence, and uncertainty.
This is not just a story of illness—it is a journey of resilience, love, loss, and second chances. Over twenty critical days, she experiences fear, hope, and the fragile line between life and death. In the ICU, she witnesses powerful human stories—of devotion, courage, and heartbreaking abandonment—revealing the true depth of relationships in times of crisis.
At the center of her survival is her husband, whose unwavering presence becomes her strength, and her children, whose love gives her a reason to keep fighting. But survival is only the beginning. The journey continues through a long and difficult recovery marked by the invisible struggles of Long COVID.
As she rebuilds her life, she discovers the true meaning of strength, gratitude, and human connection. The narrative takes a deeply emotional turn when she later faces the loss of her father, bringing her face-to-face with life’s most profound truth—that not every battle can be won.
Written with honesty and emotional depth, this memoir is a tribute to the human spirit and the power of love in the face of adversity. It reminds us that healing is not a solitary journey—it is shaped by those who stand beside us.
Because surviving is not the end—it is the beginning of truly living.

DR. MADHULIKA BHARGAVA
The author is an academician and a survivor whose life was profoundly transformed during the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. What began as a hopeful phase filled with plans for relocation and new opportunities soon turned into a life-threatening battle when she contracted COVID-19 and spent twenty critical days in the ICU.
During this time, she experienced the fragility of life in its rawest form—facing fear, uncertainty, and the constant struggle to breathe. Yet, it was also a period where she witnessed extraordinary strength, both within herself and in those around her. The unwavering support of her husband, who stood by her side through every moment, and the silent strength of her children became her greatest sources of courage.
Her journey did not end with discharge. Recovery brought new challenges, including prolonged weakness, emotional trauma, and ongoing breathlessness associated with post-COVID complications. As a professor accustomed to an active and structured life, adapting to physical limitations tested her patience and resilience. Yet, through gradual healing, she rediscovered strength in small victories and learned to embrace life with a deeper sense of gratitude and awareness.
Beyond her personal struggle, she also faced profound loss when she later lost her father after his own battle in the ICU. This experience brought her journey full circle—transforming her from a patient fighting for survival to a daughter witnessing the fragility of life from the other side.
Through it all, writing became her path to healing. This memoir is not just a recounting of illness but a reflection on resilience, love, loss, and the enduring power of human connection. As an educator, she now brings greater empathy and authenticity into her teaching, inspiring others not only through knowledge but through lived experience.
Today, she continues her journey of recovery—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—while embracing life with renewed purpose. Her story stands as a testament to the strength of the human spirit and a reminder that even after life’s deepest battles, we can choose to rise, rebuild, and live with greater love, awareness, and meaning.
