Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh Pal“Long Rope for Magga Goat” is a collection of short stories where each story is connected by the common thread of perceived reckless actions by the characters.
“Long rope for Magga Goat” is an oft-repeated Trinbagonian and Caribbean expression that means that too much freedom, latitude, or “elbow room” can lead to negative consequences for a person who typically makes poor choices, acts recklessly or with abandon.
It’s also seen as a warning that excessive freedom without proper guidance or restraint can result in self-harm or suffering.
If one dives deeper into the phrase the “Long rope” represents freedom, lack of immediate consequence, and being given a chance to do as one pleases. The “Magga Goat” refers to a person who is prone to foolishness, recklessness, or making poor decisions.
