About Chanchal Dass
Chanchal Dass was born on March 1, 1956, in a military hospital in Bangaluru, Karnataka. His early childhood was spent in Tunisia Lines, Panagarh, and he began his education in Kaipukuria, 24 Parganas, India. Chanchal's academic journey took him through various regions of India, culminating in a Licentiate in Mechanical Engineering from Mahadhiraj Bijoy Chand Institute of Technology in 1979.
Chanchal's professional career began with attempts to establish several businesses in Anuragpur, Panagarh Bazar, followed by roles at Hindusthan Fertilizer Corporation Limited and ONGC, where he rose to the position of Manager (Reservoir). In 2011, he founded Dass Oilfield Technologies PL and Dass Scientific Research Labs PL in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Chanchal holds an MBA in Financial Management from Indira Gandhi National Open University and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Operation Research from Regional Engineering College, NIT, Durgapur. His extensive experience in reservoir engineering and his passion for mathematics have led him to author several books and present numerous papers at international conferences.
As a recognized expert, Chanchal has conducted mathematics workshops and lectures across various institutions, including IITs, colleges and universities in India and abroad. His innovative approaches in teaching and research have earned him several honors and awards, including the World Oil Award finalist in the Innovative Thinker category and the SPE President’s award.
Chanchal's contributions to mathematics and engineering are further evidenced by his patents and ongoing work in simplifying advanced mathematical concepts and developing new teaching techniques. His journey from a small town in India to a renowned mathematician and educator is a testament to his dedication and passion for his field.
