Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was a philosopher and in his younger age a great swordsman. After that, he much dedicated his time to discover the true essence of his Guru's words. And concluded life must be lived with compassion and love. He sacrificed his life to protect Kashmiri pandits, when there were the trend of converting to Islam, under the rule of Aurangzeb.
