SDG 15 Life on Land

Author Name: Dr. A. Anita Pearline Esther, Dr. S. Saranya, Dr. Beutline Malgija | Format: Hardcover | Genre : Educational & Professional | Other Details

Life on Land delves into the intricate web of terrestrial ecosystems that sustain our planet. From invisible carbon-fixing microbes and industrious insects to towering trees, resilient fungi, and vibrant wetland fauna, every organism plays a crucial role in maintaining soil health, regulating climate, and supporting biodiversity. The book unpacks how seed banking preserves plant genetics, how fungal networks recycle nutrients, and how wetlands act as nature’s water filters and wildlife havens. It also examines the pressures of deforestation, land degradation, and climate change, offering science-based solutions and policy pathways aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 15. Written for researchers, students, policymakers, and nature enthusiasts, this concise yet comprehensive guide blends cutting-edge research with real-world case studies. It calls on readers to recognize that protecting land ecosystems isn’t just about conservation—it’s about securing food, water, and livelihoods for future generations. By understanding these connections, we can act locally and globally to restore balance and resilience to the land we all depend on.

This book is part of the Interdisciplinary Book Publication Drive 2026, an initiative of the Office of Research & Development, Madras Christian College, reaffirming our dedication to academic scholarship and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
