Dr. J. Jeya Rathi joined as a faculty member in the Department of Botany, Madras Christian College (Autonomous), Chennai in June 2003. She has over 25 years of teaching and research experience in the field of environmental and plant sciences. She pursued her B.Sc. Degree from Kamaraj College, M.Sc. degree from Ayya Nadar Janaki Ammal College during the year 1995 -2000 and subsequently completed M.Phil. degree from

Madurai Kamaraj University and worked for PhD degree on “Phycoremediation technology in leather industry effluent treatment: A solution to environmental pollution” from University of Madras. She has also

qualified the UGC–NET exam in 2001. She has received the “Young Scientist Award” in the year 2000. She teaches courses in ecology, environmental biotechnology, and research methodology and has guided postgraduate students and M.Phil. research projects. she has published research publications in both national and international journals. In addition, she has actively participated in faculty development programmes, workshops, and academic conferences as well. Her research interests include bio composting, bioremediation, bioplastic production and studies on polluted ecosystems, contributing to sustainability and environmental management. As Editor of Zero Hunger, she brings strong academic leadership and interdisciplinary insight to advancing research aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 book Zero Hunger.
