It is one of the first books that describes the path towards self-realisation in a simple language that can be easily comprehended by many. Although there are a number of versions of Shri Gurucharitra available in several languages, it was thought that singing the glory of Shri Guru is a process that should never end. There should also be no comparison of any kind as each of them is highly sacred.
Egoism is the first hurdle on the path of self-realisation. This ego may be of any kind but unless it is surrendered to the feet of the Guru our spiritual journey cannot actually start.
