Subrat SaurabhAuthor of Kuch Woh PalWhen fashion meets deception, identity becomes the ultimate risk.
Shaba’s grand opening show is moments away from glory—until disaster strikes. Her showstopper model, Mallika, vanishes without a trace, her phone switched off and the spotlight ticking louder by the second. With careers, reputations, and dreams hanging by a thread, one man steps into the shadows to save the day.
Ranbir.
In a desperate, clandestine move, Ranbir replaces Mallika, creating a stunning new avatar—“Rainy.” What begins as a daring act of loyalty ignites a sensation no one saw coming. Rainy doesn’t just walk the ramp; she commands it. The crowd erupts. The industry takes notice. A star is born.
But fame has a dangerous appetite.
As Rainy’s popularity spirals out of control, Ranbir finds himself trapped in a persona too powerful to escape. Applause turns into suspicion, admiration into obsession, and the line between who he is and who he pretends to be begins to blur.
“The Living Mannequin” is a gripping tale of ambition, illusion, and identity—where one night of courage unleashes consequences that could cost everything.

Dilip N Chanda
The author is a commerce graduate from Calcutta University and an avid reader of Bengali novels, drawing inspiration from the rich literary traditions of Kolkata, West Bengal. Alongside this, a deep appreciation for Western writers across diverse genres has shaped a broad and nuanced storytelling sensibility.
A career in advertising provided early exposure to photography, fashion, styling, and the world of models. This journey later led to a move from Calcutta to Bombay (now Mumbai), where the author worked closely with Ad Filmmakers and eventually went on to produce and direct advertising films. These years offered a firsthand view of the glamour industry—its creativity, ambition, and hidden tensions.
Beyond writing, the author is passionate about sports, photography, and reading. Time spent watching sports, food, and fashion channels further fuelled a curiosity about human stories behind spectacle and success. Reading novels across genres ultimately inspired the author to craft their own story, blending lived experience with imagination—resulting in a debut novel rooted in authenticity, observation, and a deep love for storytelling.
