What Methods Create Human Mind Ability

Author Name: John Lok | Format: Paperback | Genre : Others | Other Details

My opinion cautions against the potential downsides of this reliance. My view suggests that excessive cognitive offloading can lead to a decline in certain fundamental cognitive skills, such as memory recall, critical thinking, and even spatial reasoning, if these skills are not regularly exercised .

My view posits that the brain, being a highly adaptive organ, tends to optimize for efficiency, and if technology consistently provides shortcuts, the neural pathways associated with more effortful cognitive processes may weaken over time . This is particularly relevant in educational settings, where the ubiquitous presence of digital tools might inadvertently hinder the development of deep learning and analytical abilities if not integrated thoughtfully .

Furthermore, this book discusses how technology can introduce new forms of cognitive effort, such as the need to navigate complex digital interfaces, manage information overload, and discern credible sources from misinformation . While these are different types of cognitive demands than those traditionally associated with manual tasks or rote memorization, they nonetheless require significant mental energy and skill . The constant barrage of notifications and the fragmented nature of digital information consumption can also contribute to reduced attention spans and increased cognitive fatigue, a phenomenon Lok refers to as "digital exhaustion" .

I had graduated business Administration Science Degree in Common Wealth Open University. In summary, my views technology's impact on human cognitive effort as a double-edged sword. It offers immense potential for reducing mundane cognitive burdens and augmenting human capabilities, but it also carries the risk of atrophying certain cognitive skills and introducing new forms of mental strain.

My work encourages a balanced approach, advocating for the strategic integration of technology that leverages its benefits while mitigating its potential drawbacks, ultimately aiming to foster a symbiotic relationship between humans and their technological tools.
