Ram asks an uncomfortable but necessary question — what do you do when corporate life ends earlier than expected? This book blends honesty, humour, and hard-earned wisdom to offer clarity and direction for the second half of life. It’s a relevant, grounded read for professionals who want to stay purposeful, independent, and engaged beyond traditional career timelines.

Ramchander Raman
Ramchander Raman is a seasoned business leader, food & beverage strategist, consultant, and life coach with over 25 years of experience across hospitality, food retail, cafés, QSRs, and consumer businesses in India and overseas.
A Gen X professional, Ramchander’s career spans senior leadership roles in hotels and large food and beverage organisations in India, Switzerland, and the United States. He holds a Swiss Diploma and a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management, followed by an MBA from the US. For over two decades, he built, scaled, and operated businesses in a high-pressure corporate environment — including being part of leadership teams that helped grow brands across hundreds of outlets.
Like many professionals of his generation, Ramchander followed the traditional belief that a strong corporate career would naturally carry him well into his 60s. Instead, he experienced first-hand what few talk about openly — the silent, early end of corporate relevance, the emotional shock of stepping away from structured roles, and the deeper questions that surface when titles disappear.
Rather than retreating, he chose to re-architect his life. Today, Ramchander runs Fork and Apron Consultancy, advising food and hospitality brands on operations, systems, scale, and sustainable growth. In parallel, he has trained as a life coach, helping individuals navigate transitions, identity shifts, purpose, and emotional resilience — especially in midlife and beyond.
This book is not written from theory, hindsight, or borrowed wisdom.
It is written from lived experience — of building a career, losing certainty, confronting ageism, rebuilding purpose, managing health, relationships, and money, and discovering that life after 55 is not an ending, but a redesign.
Ramchander believes deeply that people over 55 still have immense value to offer — not just to the economy, but to families, communities, and society at large. His work and writing focus on helping people contribute, not just consume, and to live the second half of life with clarity, dignity, relevance, and freedom.
